Voting Members (Executive):
Co-Chair – Corey Oickle
Born and raised right here in Halifax, this is Corey’s fourth year playing with the ECRSA and his second as a member of the commission. Having played baseball and softball since the age of five, he will be great asset to this year’s commission, especially with his abnormal organizational skills. Come up and say hello. He will be more than happy to talk with you!
Co-chair – Aubrie (Abby) McGibbon
Picked up on waivers from Ontario, this is Abby’s second year with the ECRSA. An evaluation, research and policy geek by day, Abby actually enjoys the administrative aspects that come with organized sports. When not trying to perfect the art of the overthrow from shortstop, Abby can be found forever refining a stand up comedy schtick. Do you have an idea for the website? Suggestions for the league? A great one liner? Get Abby’s attention. That’s a conversation that needs to happen!
Treasurer – Melissa Mercer
Urban legend says that she came out of the womb with a ball glove on. Standing “tall” at first base, Melissa has been playing with the ECRSA for 3 years. A jack of all trades for the Commission, Melissa oversees the finances of the league as the Treasurer. If you have any suggestions for the league and its growth, please find Melissa and chat her up!
Secretary – Katherine (Kat) Boone
Kat joined the league to meet people and have some fun in the sun. The mission was successful, so much so, she wanted to get more involved with the league. Kat works in the Finance Industry and holds a degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management. She has spent many years working and volunteering for non-profit organizations and is excited to now assist with the further development of the league. Cheers!
Sponsorship Coordinator – Mike Marshall
A man of few words….ahem! Mike is a veteran of the league, team co-captain and the de facto equipment manager for Adept. Whether he is sailing through the air in the outfield to rob someone of a great hit or belly flopping off of third to fall on the ball, Mike never fails to leave a lasting impression. As the point person for all sponsorship activity, Mike is eager to hear about any suggestions you may have. Just look for the Oakley’s and laughter – you will have found Mr. Mike!
Non-Voting Members:
Volunteer Coordinator – Doug Bungay
Doug began his baseball career as a bat-boy at the tender age of eight. Back then he was this little kid, full of energy, running all over the field, playing hard and having fun. He`s now 46. Still energetic, but does not run much. He likes first base and catching because his knees hurt. What he lacks in ability, he makes up with enthusiasm, love of the game and some nice tattoos. He is ever grateful for this league, another opportunity to be involved, the camaraderie of the his teammates and that his partner rarely comments on his use of ibuprophen and ice bags.
Communications Coordinator – Charles Thompson
Entering into his second year with the ECRSA, Charles drove in from Truro to play softball. Having grown up on the softball diamond, Charles brings a wealth of capacity with tournament organization to the Commission. As the Communications Coordinator, Charles is the scribe of the league’s weekly email. Charles is definitely somebody you need to know, so go say hi! You’ll be glad you did.
Equipment Coordinator – Heather Scully
A third year veteran of the League, Heather can be found stealthily lurking in right field tracking down pop flys and providing witty banter. Never one to waste words, Heather’s not so hidden super talents include, but are not limited to “I can lift things up and put them down!”.
Scheduling Coordinator – Julie Roberts
A five year veteran of the ECRSA, Julie brings to the commission 20+ years of softball experience. Rumour has it that Julie can actually generate and oversee a league schedule in her sleep! Julie is a very approachable person who is open to discussion of any topic. If you have any question or concerns, or simply want to shoot the s*#t, just track her down!
